My passion for painting began in high school and continued as I earned a BA in Art/Art Education and an MS in Biomedical Communication. I chose an extremely rewarding career in designing and developing instructional media and training courses in Texas medical schools and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. Many of the projects I worked on at CDC received international, national, and CDC awards for excellence in medical and public health media design.
While at CDC my artwork took a back seat due to a heavy work schedule that sometimes required traveling to domestic and international locations. Now that I am retired I’m having a fabulous time creating paintings and letting my creative side soar!! WOO HOO!!
My works explore a visual and spiritual response to the beauty of nature. The style of my paintings is a combination of abstract and realism and include landscapes, portraits, flowers, and leaves (especially ginkgo leaves). Pastels and oils have always been my preferred mediums and I’m currently working in pastels with mixed media. This includes markers, pencils, metallic paints, etc. The painting surface I use is Canson Mi-teintes Touch Sanded Paper.
I’m a member of the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association, the Southeastern Pastel Society, the Women’s Caucus for Art of Georgia, and the Booth Western Art Museum Artists’ Guild.
