Greetings art lover!

Thank you for checking out my Art-A-Whirl page! I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoy creating them.

I mainly work in encaustic and mixed media. Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. This ancient process is known for luminous color and the ability to achieve depth and stunning translucency. I paint with the pigmented wax on a wood panel substrate and fuse on multiple layers of wax with a propane torch. The word encaustic is derived from the Greek word enkaustikos, meaning a burning in. This labor-intensive process is, for me, the joy of creating each unique work of art.

Recently, I have been working on a series of encaustic paintings inspired by Cairns and Standing Stones. These encounters with ancient rock formations, standing stones, and man-made monuments during my travels to Scotland, England, Ireland, and the North shore of Lake Superior have sparked my imagination. Powerful yet delicately balanced the stone structures are artistic and elaborate feats of engineering and remind me of the mysteries of humanity and reinforce the connections we share across time.

All of my paintings are available for curbside pick up at the Northrup King Building or via delivery. Please contact me if you’re interested in purchasing anything you see on this website or to discuss a commission.
