My inspiration comes from landscape and things in nature.

Growing up near the Mississippi River in NE Minneapolis, exploring the riverbank and fields, as well as weeding flower beds and helping my grandmother work in her large vegetable garden helped shape my love for nature at an early age. It was here I learned about the fragile beauty of the land and her gifts. I learned about the cycle of life, transformation of organic material and the process of renewal through the simple art of digging, planting and picking plants.

I am mostly known for my birch tree series, fields and wetland paintings for their meditative and tranquil qualities.

My BFA is from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and my MFA is from Pratt Institute in NYC. My work is in international, private and corporate collections such as US Bank Corporation, Nordstrom, and Regions Hospital.

I am honored to be a recipient of a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant 2020 to support new, mixed media paintings on the subject of the prairie, prescribed burns and farmland restoration.

Crescendo

Crescendo is inspired by a prairie, controlled burn which is used to renew the land and prairie ecosystem. There is a moment when the grasses take hold of the fire to create an intense, dry, crackling burn as it combines with blowing, hot wind and smoke. It’s the magical moment of transformation!

This painting is 30″H x 48″W. The canvas is painted on all sides so no frame is necessary. It includes attached hardware for easy hanging.

This item is available for curbside pickup or shipping.

Harvest Field

Harvest Field is a thick, textural painting of an exaggerated one point perspective creating a feeling of endless field and farmland. The dramatic perspective puts the viewer eye level at the bottom of the painting and face to face with the cut, corn plants and clumps of rich soil. This is the intimate place of the farmer bending over the plants, carefully holding the soil and feeling the remaining stubble of the harvest!

This painting is 48″H x 30″W. The canvas is painted on all sides so no frame is necessary. It includes attached hardware for easy hanging.

This item is available for curbside pickup or shipping.

Inferno

Inferno is that explosive energy of the prairie controlled or prescribed burn when everything comes together in a powerful, swirling dance; the field grasses and brush, the intense heat and wind. It is pure, raw energy!

This painting is 24″H x 24″W. The canvas is painted on all sides so no frame is necessary. It includes attached hardware for easy hanging.

This item is available for curbside pickup or shipping.

Slow Burn

Slow Burn is the slow, beginning flame of a prairie, controlled or prescribed burn used to rejuvenate the prairie plants and soil. It’s about the gentle, innocent flame that will soon take off, erupt into a full-blown fire and leap across the buffer zone to ignite anything in its path. The danger is in its seemingly innocence!

This diptych (two canvases) painting is 12″H x 36″W respectively. The canvases are painted on all sides so no frame is necessary. It includes attached hardware for easy hanging.

This item is available for curbside pickup or shipping.

Smoke and Fire

Smoke and Fire is a mixed media painting with organic, field brush material and perennial plants collaged onto the surface of the painting. It is inspired by controlled or prescribed prairie burns used to rejuvenate native plants and soil. You could say this painting is about a new beginning, the cycle of nature, or passion!

This painting is 30″H x 48″W. The canvas is painted on all sides so no frame is necessary. It includes attached hardware for easy hanging.

This item is available for curbside pickup or shipping.
