Sarah White is a Minneapolis-based documentary photographer known for her soulful exploration of culture, style, and portraiture. Blending aesthetic influences from Brooklyn to Barcelona, she finds inspiration in the intersections of music and art, individuality, and empowerment. From fashion at Afropunk to moments of connection at community gatherings, to capturing cultural producers on the rise, her photographs document subjects in their natural state. Light and emotion inform her signature style. As a healer/yogi/activist/artist, White channels her multi-faceted lens as a medium for empathy and truth through visual storytelling.
Sarah White’s photography has been featured on the cover of City Pages and in publications such as Pollen Midwest and Minnesota Monthly. Her client list includes Intermedia Arts, Minnesota Council of Foundations, Youthprise, Minnesota Museum of American Art, Pillsbury House Theater, Minnesota Black Riders Association, Impact Hub, Youthlink, United Way and more. Sarah White is a multi-faceted artist, working between various mediums expressing culture, soul and grit. She has performed as a singer/emcee internationally, sharing stages and collaborating with talented artists including Yasiin Bey, K-OS, Macy Gray, King Britt, J’Davey, and Jay Electronica. Sarah offers versatility with a multitude of experience including live band performances & DJ sets to vocal soundscapes & acoustic candlelit harmonies. Sarah has independently released 3 solo albums, her voice is featured on record label releases from the midwest to Tokyo and she won Scion’s best electronic vocalist competition while living in NYC. Recent projects include traveling to Cuba and recording in Havana, neon-soul band Shiro Dame, and the new EP, “Laughing at Ghosts”.
