Wild Song Pottery
My pottery is meant to be substantial and useful, but also very simple in design. Artistically, I am very concerned with the silhouette of each piece. I use buff clay and liken my pottery to that particular clay, smooth and supple, but with just a bit of grit in it. When I am creating my pieces, I imagine what they may be used for and how they would look as a background or a piece of a larger feature. My style includes the finger marks. I want my pottery to scream that it was thrown, and that it was meant to reflect the process of wheel-thrown pottery. I do not worry about matching pieces. I consider each item to be unique and for me the purpose of thrown pottery is inherent in that uniqueness. My goal is to create beautiful pieces that are used daily. I have been exploring garden art as well. I love to collect and use items that are made by others, and my hope is that my pottery will find a new home and will also be treasured for its usefulness and beauty.
